OVirt Global Workshops

The purpose of this page is to document upcoming oVirt Workshops. oVirt Workshops are a community effort and will be held at both industry events and the campuses of oVirt Board Member companies. The community will target holding a workshop once every 2-3 months and cycling through each geographic region. This page will include schedule information, registration information and outstanding action items for developing each workshop.

Upcoming Workshops Schedule Overview

• October 16, 2012: Red Hat Office, Bangalore, India
• November 7-9, 2012: LinuxCon Europe (workshop will be co-located with KVM Forum)
• January 22-24, 2013: NetApp Headquarters in Sunnyvale, California, US
• March 20-21, 2013: Intel Campus in Shanghai, China

Board Meetings at Upcoming Workshops

Since many members of oVirt's Board will be in attendance at these workshops, it has been proposed that a Board meeting be held at each workshop or a subset of these workshops. Data gathering for scheduling these Board Meetings is taking place on the Workshop Board Meetings page.

Promoting oVirt Workshops

The goal of these workshops is to introduce users and developers to all aspects of the oVirt workshop. It would be wonderful if the community would help to spread the word about the workshops via its communications channels. If you are looking for assistance in crafting messaging or an announcement about the workshops, Jason Brooks would be happy to assist you.

The team is also working with the Open Virtualization Alliance to promote the workshops amongst its members.

Other Proposed Workshop Locations

Kyle Mestery is working to arrange a workshop on Cisco's campus, likely in the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, US area.

We are currently working to locate a place to host a workshop in the LATAM region.

Red Hat Bangalore Campus Workshop

Red Hat Bangalore Campus Workshop Details

• The workshop is free of charge. Facilities at Red Hat Bangalore can accomodate at least 50 participants. We will look at adding additional participant slots based on demand.
• Beverage breaks and lunch will be provided to all attendees.

Red Hat Bangalore Campus Workshop Outstanding Action Items

• Review incoming talk proposals as requested on the oVirt mailing lists.
• Create workshop agenda based on results of call for papers and previous presenters who have volunteered to present.
• Promote workshop.

While we have not yet been given a deadline for these action items, it would be best to get the information together sooner rather than later.

LinuxCon Europe 2012

The oVirt workshop at LinuxCon Europe will be co-located with the KVM Forum event.

LinuxCon Europe 2012 Workshop Details

• The workshop is free of charge for the first 150 registrants. We will look at adding additional participant slots based on demand.
• Attendees registering for the workshop will receive discounted registration to LinuxCon Europe provided they use this Registration Link.
• Attendees of LinuxCon Europe will also be invited to "add-on" registration to KVM Forum/oVirt Workshop.
• Attendees who have already registered for LinuxCon Europe via the main conference registration page can simply edit their existing registration to add on the oVirt Workshop.
• Beverage breaks and lunch will be provided to all attendees. Attendees of the workshop are also welcome to participate in the event reception free of charge.

LinuxCon Europe 2012 Outstanding Action Items

• Create workshop overview description.
• Create workshop agenda.
• Create workshop session abstracts.
• Determine instructors for the workshop & assing them to particular sessions.
• Submit all information the Linux Foundation for printed materials and website.

While we have not yet been given a deadline for these action items, it would be best to get the information together sooner rather than later.

NetApp Campus Workshop 2013

Details for this workshop are still to be confirmed, with a confirmed date of January 22-24, 2013 at NetApp's Sunnyvale, California, US headquarters. More information will be added to this entry closer to the event.

Intel Campus Workshop 2013

Details for this workshop are still to be confirmed, though we have confirmed the date for it as March 20-21, 2013. The workshop will be held at Intel's Shanghai campus.
